  Functions of a Magnetic Stirrer

  Generally, it has stirring and heating functions.

  1. Ensures even mixing and temperature distribution of reactants.

  2. When heating in a sealed container, bumping must be prevented. For example, boiling stones can be added during distillation, or a magnetic stirrer can be used.

  3. Increases reaction or evaporation speed, shortening processing time.

  Structure of a Magnetic Stirrer

  A magnetic stirrer consists of a stirring rotor, stirrer tray, magnet, motor, and transmission mechanism. If the magnetic stirrer has a heating function, it also includes a mica-insulated resistance heating wire.

  A magnetic stirrer typically uses a small iron rod sealed in a plastic or glass tube that doesn't react with the solution. The stirring rotor rotates with the magnet. The permanent magnet is connected to and mounted below the motor's rotating shaft. The motor's rotation causes the permanent magnet to rotate, using its magnetic force to rotate the stirring rotor, thus achieving the stirring effect. The metal tray is used to place chemical cells, and there is also an electrode holder for clamping reference and measuring electrodes. To control the magnet's rotation, heating, and power supply, the panel is equipped with a temperature control heating switch, indicator lights, and a speed control knob.

  The working principle of a magnetic stirrer involves using a micromotor to rotate a high-temperature resistant, strong magnet, generating a rotating magnetic field that spins the stirring bar within the container, mixing the liquid. It can simultaneously heat the solution, ensuring thorough mixing and reaction at the set temperature.

  Features of a Magnetic Stirrer

  The stirring speed and heating temperature are continuously adjustable, making it suitable for stirring solvents with various viscosities.

  The hot plate is made of aluminum alloy and coated with fluorocarbon material, providing excellent heat conductivity, strong resistance to heat and cold, and corrosion resistance.

  The bottom of the heating plate uses a double-layer melting device to significantly improve efficiency and avoid the heat conduction shell.

  The integrated convex design of the housing and its upper part effectively prevents solutions accidentally spilled during stirring from flowing into the stirrer and damaging electronic components.
